My name is Hiro and I come from United States. In my free time, I like to to play basketball and read on my own, but I also love to hike and spend time with my family out in nature. I wanted to go to an exchange, because I’ve always wanted to see more of the world especially living in a rural area and my dad was an exchange student in university so listening to his stories made me think it would be a really amazing way to travel and to have experiences on my own. During my exchange year, I hope to meet people that become apart of my life forever and to at least become functionally fluent in Finnish. I miss my family and my parents cooking the most. I also miss driving to the beach and around my town with my best friends. I love the nature in Finland. I feel that everywhere I go is gorgeous and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the lakes and the trees.

My name is Tahliya and I come from Indonesia. I’m someone who is creative and impulsive and i express these traits of mine through art, like drawing and playing the guitar. I became an exchange student to learn more about myself and the world around me. During my exchange year, I hope that I will have a better understanding of who I am and able to implement positive finnish culture in everyday life. I’ve also gained intresting things about finnish education, hopefully the knowledge that I’ve learned will also be beneficial for people back home also. Thankfully, so far I am just living my life and enjoying new memoriess. I’m happy for my family and friends back home that they’re also happily living their lives. I am getting used to walking/cycling longer distances, but I do miss gojek (online motorcycle taxis) though since they’re cheap and make going to places alot practical. What I love the most in Finland is how nature is in very close proximity. I was born and raised in a big city so I wasn’t able to see stars at night, enjoy fresh air, swim/surfboard in lakes, or hunt for berries and mushrooms. It has been a nice change of pace here. I also saw my first shooting star with my host family which was very nice.
