Baltic Sea RYLA is a week long international leadership training for young adults (18–30 yrs), organised by Rotarians. It combines the environmental challenges of the Baltic Sea with the participants’ personal development as leaders. During the camp, participants learn what is truly happening to the Baltic Sea – and why the situation is so serious. At the same time, they get hands on experience in how to initiate and lead concrete projects that benefit their own communities.

This is not a lecture hall full of slides. It is an engaging, participatory experience where young people from different Baltic Sea countries meet. The Baltic Sea RYLA leadership training is one of the activity formats of BASRAN (Baltic Sea Action Network). Training is conducted in English.

The next training will take place in Palanga, Lithuania on 3–5 September 2026.

During the week, participants explore the environmental challenges of the Baltic Sea, including visits to an animal rehabilitation centre and a marine research institute. They practise leadership skills in workshops and work in international teams on concrete solutions. The training culminates in connection with BASRAN and the Rotary Action Summit, where participants present their ideas and network widely with stakeholders from across the Baltic Sea region.

Rotary clubs may financially support a young adult’s participation in Baltic Sea RYLA. The support fee of 400 euros includes the programme and accommodation. Applications are open and close on 15 May 2026. If you are of the right age and interested in participating – or if you know a young adult who might be – direct them to the Baltic Sea RYLA website for more information!
