One of the speakers at our District Conference was Professor of Economics Iryna Honcharenko from Cherkasy State Technological University. Three years ago, Iryna also became an author, wishing to write a children’s book — with love and with a message that strengthens faith in the future.

The friendship and cooperation between Finnish and Ukrainian Rotarians made the book project possible, and it saw the light of day in Brussels last year. Participating are Finnish districts 1385, 1390, 1420 and 1430, which have committed to purchasing and distributing a total of 1,000 books.

Rotarians are committed to distributing these Ukrainian language books to Ukraine Centres, libraries, and large kindergartens where there are Ukrainian children. Our own district will distribute 200 books in Finland and 50 in Estonia.

The book’s comforting text and beautiful illustrations will surely delight many children.

The project is a wonderful example of cross border friendship and the power of working together.
