We are part of Rotary International
Rotary International
The Rotary umbrella organization is Rotary International ‘RI’.
The highest decision-making body of the RI is annual Rotary International Convention, to which each club has the right to send an official representative. Each Rotary has the right to participate informally. The meeting language of RI is English. World conventions are held around the world: Houston 2022, Melbourne 2023, Singapore 2024, Calgary 2025.
RI’s lead figure is the yearly changing Rotary International President ‘RIP’.
The RI executive body is the Board, which consists of the RI president, future president, and 17 directors (RID).
RI is headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, near Chicago. There are about 530 staff members under the leadership of the Secretary-General.
RI also has six International Offices around the globe. The European and African Office (EAO) in Zurich also has Finnish- and Swedish-speaking staff.
The Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is one of the biggest private charity actors in the world, and is repeatedly ranked high regarding transparency and reliability.
TRF coordinates and finances the global service activities of Rotarians. The work of TRF is based on voluntary donations and capital revenue, which are channelled to training and education projects and humanitarian aid.
An important incentive is the granting of Paul Harris Fellow Awards, one for each donation of one thousand dollars. Globally, over one million PHF Awards have been granted. Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary.
