The Rotary Foundation

Donation coordination

Donations to charities by rotarians and Rotary Clubs are channeled through the Rotary Foundation to those in need, both near and far. With the Foundation’s grant models, rotarians can help people in their own communities and globally – take their help where the need is most urgent.

District Rotary Foundation Committee coordinates relief efforts by the rotary districts. It encourages, trains, and assists rotarians in fundraising and relief activities in their area. The most important forms of Rotary Foundation assistance are the annual preparation of district grants, the selection of club projects to be assisted, and the reporting of payments to the Rotary Foundation.
In addition to the district grant process, the District Rotary Foundation Committee assists clubs and Rotarians in collecting Polio Fund grants. Larger donations and wills to the gift fund often require the expertise of the Foundation Committee.

Recognitions are also given to rotarians for their donations to the Rotary Foundation. The best known of the accolades is the Paul Harris Fellow Medal. The District Rotary Foundation Committee orders these recognitions from the regional office in Zurich.

Larger international grants – Global Grant projects – are described in the section on international projects.
