The new operating year in our district has now begun in earnest with the start of September. I myself have enthusiastically begun visiting clubs in Satakunta, Pirkanmaa, Rauma, Nauvo, and Oolannissa.
Wonderful good deeds! I have been absolutely delighted by the wonderful work being done even in small clubs, and in many cases the clubs even play a small role in municipal or local politics 😊. I have already visited 10 clubs and, by the time of the Autumn Seminar, almost 40% of our clubs.
Openness and dialogue with both the board and the members have brought new insights from each visit. I have tried to record these in my little notebook. THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD IDEAS, we can proudly share these with others.
UNITE FOR GOOD is the theme for the coming year. In Finnish, it could be translated as Let’s Do Good Together! This has been evident in the clubs I have visited.
Peace work, the Foundation’s support for it, and the final eradication of polio remain our top priorities. We have invested in these and are starting the new year with new goals. News from the district and the Peace Committee will be heard at the Autumn Seminar. There is some wonderful and exciting news coming!
So stay tuned!
Our environmental program is seeking greater visibility. On Baltic Sea Day, together with John Nurminen nationally and now in all the Baltic Sea coastal countries, we were strongly involved in several locations on August 28. This summer’s blue-green algae situation has mercilessly revealed the grim reality of the current situation. Each of us can help with small actions in our everyday lives. We will receive an update on this in Turku on September 13.
I look forward to my upcoming visits to each club, where we can focus on opportunities and development in line with changes in society. I hope that we can all look openly to the future, for the good of the whole community, so that our activities can grow actively, both in the clubs, in the regions, in our district, and throughout Finland. Reading through the clubs’ plans, I am proud of you and your active support for good causes! I have already skimmed through the clubs’ annual plans, and they show strength, cooperation, and commitment to the future.
Youth exchange, with all its possibilities, is also included in more clubs than ever before. Our crown jewel, NV activities, has also been visible in my club discussions. Similarly, service projects targeting young people are an important part of our future as the needs of society change.
At this point, I would like to thank each and every one of you for every gesture, every minute, and every donation you have made. I would also like to thank all of you who have pledged your time and resources for the common good as club and district officials.
UNITE FOR GOOD! Let’s do good together!
Have a great start to the fall, and I hope to see you soon during my visits. I hope to meet as many of you as possible in person at club events and at the Fall Seminar on September 13, where we will see examples of events and how to participate in them.
Tents, flags, and other support materials are an easy way to increase visibility. The Autumn Seminar is an opportunity to network and add something new to the club program for both the fall and spring. The program includes brief examples of the types of stands that have been seen at markets and fairs and how we plan to be visible during the year.
WELCOME to Forum Marinum in Turku on September 13, 2025!
Registration for the autumn seminar will close about a week before the event, but there is still time to sign up. Registration is open as usual on the district’s Events page. WELCOME!
A newsletter summarizing the autumn seminar will be published at the end of September, with short summaries and links so that you can immediately take advantage of what was presented.
Best regards, DG Matti
