September has been a busy month for clubs. During my visits to clubs, I have encountered cheerful Rotarians, good projects, and excellent activities that transcend club boundaries. I have been positively surprised and delighted by the discussions about the Foundation and the commitment to youth exchange and PolioPlus fundraising.

Many thanks to all the clubs for your hospitality and good work! UNITE FOR GOOD is the theme for the coming year. In Finnish, it can be loosely translated as Let’s Do Good Together! This has been evident in the clubs I have visited.

Peace work, the foundation’s support for it, and the final eradication of polio remain our top priorities. We have invested in these projects, and now that it is October, we are focusing on peace work and membership in addition to polio. There are some wonderful concerts coming up in Satakunta, including one in Pori on October 15. A peace congress will be held in Salo on October 30 to raise money for an ambulance in Ukraine.

October is an excellent month for recruiting new members, and I encourage you to organize information/membership events, even jointly with other clubs in the area. The news section includes a brief example of an upcoming event in Turku and the surrounding area. Feel free to replicate it elsewhere.

I am looking forward to my upcoming club visits to every club in the district. When we meet, we can focus on opportunities and development in line with changes in society. I hope that we can all look openly to the future for the good of the whole community. This will put our activities on an active growth path, both in clubs, regions, our district, and throughout Finland. I am also happy to welcome new members to the club.

The club situation in the district looks good for the first time in a long time. Hopefully, we will soon be able to announce new clubs and opportunities. It’s great to have new activities in new locations. A satellite club is also an excellent way to establish a new group around a specific hobby or activity, which provides younger members with a variety of activities. This could be an e-club or
a special club supporting a specific type of business. At this point, I would like to thank each and every one of you for every gesture, every minute, and every donation you have made. I would also like to thank all of you who have pledged your time and resources for the common good as club and district officers.

UNITE FOR GOOD! Let’s do good together!

Have a great start to the fall, and I hope to see you soon during my visits. I hope to meet as many of you as possible in person at club events.

Best regards for October
DG Matti
