The Rotarians of Tikkurila, joined by members of the Myyrmäki club, organized a cleanup effort along the riverbanks of the Keravanjoki. The activity drew the attention of passers-by near Heureka in Tikkurila on Saturday, 25 April 2026, during the morning and midday hours. Wearing red Rotary End Polio vests, the groups collected litter from the riverbanks — from Heureka about one kilometre downstream to the footbridge, and upstream for 1.5 kilometres on both sides of the river. A considerable amount of plastic waste, paper bags and cigarette butts was gathered in just over three hours.
Starting at 9:30 a.m. in chilly weather, the event also included a presentation of Rotary activities at a tent, as well as a ShelterBox disaster relief display set up by the riverside. The presentation tents were located along a pedestrian route near Veininmylly, allowing walkers, joggers, couples and families with children to stop by, explore the ShelterBox tent and its equipment, and learn about relief efforts. Fifteen Rotarians from the Tikkurila and Myyrmäki clubs participated, along with an exchange student from Japan.
