Dear Rotary sisters and brothers of District 1420,
The Spring Meeting was held in connection with the District Conference, where DGE Heldur Alles’ Action Plan, Budget and District Leadership Plan were approved. The upcoming governor year has been excellently prepared – my warm thanks to Heldur.
The District Conference and joint dinner took place at Hotel Kalastajatorppa, and the day turned out to be a great success. The conference’s wonderful speakers and nearly 150 attendees created a fantastic atmosphere. The theme Youth and the Future received much praise, and the professionalism of the speakers was clearly evident. A big thank-you to everyone who participated.
At the conference, we also heard from Iryna Honcharenko, the author of the Ukrainian children’s book Friendship Across Borders. The book will be distributed to libraries, Ukraine Centres and kindergartens in our district to support the integration of Ukrainian children. Our district has 200 copies available.
The evening celebration was held in the legendary Round Hall. Nearly 90 Rotarians and guests from Ukraine, France, Nigeria and Estonia attended – a fine demonstration of the international character of our district.
My warm thanks to the entire team for organising the conference and the evening celebration. We worked together for more than seven months, entirely on a voluntary basis, through numerous planning meetings both in person and on Teams. This truly embodies Service Above Self. Thank you to every one of you – at the beginning, we were many, at the end somewhat fewer, but your contribution was invaluable.
My governor year is approaching its final stretch. Still ahead are visits to the clubs of Loviisa and Porvoo, as well as to Päikeselaager and Pärnu Invarand in Estonia – possibly one more club visit in Estonia as well.
A great deal continues to happen in our district: preparations for the Herring Rowing and Herring Hike, SYKE trainings, the World Village Festival, RYLA trainings, Rotary Golf events in Finland and Estonia, and many club activities. Up-to-date information can be found on our district website – it is worth following.
I wish you all a wonderful May Day – let’s enjoy, take a breath, and then continue our Rotary work together.
Kind regards,
DG Jere
