The Valkeakoski Rotary Club, together with the Valkeakoski-Tohka Rotary Club, has implemented the Local Waters School project, which aims to increase the interest of 6th and 7th grade primary school students in the environmental issues and especially in the purity of their local waters.
UPM (United Paper Mills) cooperates with local Rotary clubs in all of its Finnish pulp and paper mill locations. In the Local Waters Project school children e.g. measure water pH and oxygen content and can learn the environmental status of their local waters.
