In-depth Rotary Training

It is important for a Rotarian who leads club activities to know about Rotary’s possibilities, its current state and activities in the world, and he should have a vision of what Rotary can be in the future. RLI, or In-depth Rotary Training, offers a three-day basic course for both Rotary knowledge and especially the management skills of volunteer organizations.

RLI operating model

In our district, in-depth rotary training is organized according to the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) model. RLI is a grassroots association of Rotary districts, established to implement a leadership development program for potential Rotary club leaders. RLI was founded in 1992 and has a global organization with chapters on all continents.

All clubs can send their members for training and any Rotarian can participate in any course on their own initiative.

The primary goal is to create enthusiasm for Rotary by opening the world of Rotary to participants outside of their own club and showing them how many opportunities Rotary’s service has and can do good for the world. At the same time, the participants get the opportunity to develop their leadership skills.

Content of training

The training consists of three parts, which offer participants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Rotary from different perspectives. The training is organized by members of the district training committee and follows the educational principles of the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI).

  •     Part 1: Me as a Rotarian. This part talks about leadership in Rotary, the world of Rotary, ethics and professional service. In the Rotary Foundation’s section, we learn about engaging members and creating service projects.
  •     Part 2: My Rotary Club. In this section, you will learn about the opportunities offered by Rotary, effective leadership strategies and team building. In addition, ways to acquire new members and the club’s communication will be considered.  In the foundation section, you get to know the targeted service.
  •     Part 3: My Expanding Rotary World. This section delves into strategic planning, Rotary’s public image and public relations, and how we build a stronger club and change the world. In the foundation section, we get to know the international service.

The training can also be carried out in parts so that, if an individual time does not suit, it can be fixed in the following years or in a training organized by a neighboring district.

Next trainings

In-dept Rotary Training, RLI, will be held in the autumn on three Saturdays: October 18, November 8, and November 22, at the Skyline Airport Hotel in Vantaa. Meal costs are €35 per event.

The training is suitable for both new and experienced Rotarians. Especially those in leadership positions have gained many ideas for developing their work. In addition, the events encourage networking and cooperation between clubs.  Please note that participation in all three days does not need to be consecutive – some sessions can be completed in the spring or during the following term.

The training content is extensive and diverse, delivered interactively, and we encourage all clubs to send their members to attend.
