Rovaniemi Rotary Club and Rovaniemi Santa Claus Rotary Club organized a community visit to the University of Lapland.
Presidents Manu Pajuluoma and Jaana Koskela opened the event with the theme of the Rotary year “Create Hope in the World”. We get to know the University of Lapland and the presentation was given by Satu Uusiautti, the vice rector responsible for education and professor of education. Her research interests are focused on the field of positive psychology, positive human development, strengths and agency, with a special focus on the phenomenon of success at work. Satu has written more than 300 articles and several works on the subject. Rotary’s Annual Theme “Create Hope in the World” shows up in her work in an interesting way, as Satu has been included in The World Book of Hope among the 100 professors selected worldwide with the article “Hope at Work”. The theme of the Rotary year opened up to a new level through research and opened a lively discussion on the topic among the participants.
Rotary district 1385 district governor Petri Keränen visited the event and presented the annual theme from Rotary’s point of view. He brought up good practical examples of charity as well as inspiring stories along the way.
The board of Rovaniemi Rotary Club met after the community visit and stated that the club is progressing well according to its annual plan and several new projects have already been implemented.
