Weekly meeting 20 – company/community visit to Rovaniemi Palloseura. The presentation will be given by Matti Poikajärvi, chairman of RoPS ry, on the topic “RoPS from difficulties to a new beginning”

The Rotary Club of Rovaniemi and the Rotary Club of Santa Claus gathered at the premises of Y-North for a joint community visit to hear about the 73-year history of the Rovaniemi Football Club (RoPS) and the current situation. RoPS chairman Matti Poikajärvi told what stages the Rovaniemi football club, founded in 1950, has had on its journey. Poikajärvi started the presentation by reviewing the achievements of the peak times and the difficulties of the down times. The presentation gave a good picture of the great work that RoPS has done over the years, e.g. for moving our young people and for the selfless contribution of volunteers in helping the local football club survive its financial obligations.

The future picture of the Rovaniemi Palloseura seems good, and in order to keep the activity and the club alive, they have received many contacts, even from abroad, from people whose life path RoPS has touched over the years and left a lasting and warm memory. The representatives of the Rotary clubs thanked chairman Poikajärvi for his open presentation that evoked many good memories.
