Organizational levels of Rotary
Rotary is an international organization whose organizational levels are:
- The strategic level is formed by Rotary International.
- The operational level consists of regions (Regions) and zones (Zone). Regions are a cooperative entity formed by two or more zones.
- Rotary district is a regional administrative and service unit.
- The Rotary Club is the basic unit of operations.
Zones and areas
Rotary is divided into 34 zones worldwide. Important zones for Finnish Rotarians are 17 and 18:
- Finland belongs to the Northern European rotary zone Zone 17B, which also includes Estonia as part of the rotary district 1420, and Russia.
- Zone 17A consists of Sweden and Latvia.
- Zone 18 consists of Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania and Poland.

Different training sessions and seminars are organized annually by zone or region, for example a training seminar for future governors. In addition, the people of the resource team act as trainers, facilitators and speakers at regional and district events.

Regional offices
RI has several international regional offices belonging to the RI Secretariat.
The Europe and Africa Regional Office (EAO) located in Zurich serves Finnish and Estonian Rotarians. Sari Miettinen, who works in the Zurich office, serves clubs and circles in Finnish, Swedish, German and English.
