In the fall, our district organizes Deep Rotary Coaching in Finland and Estonia. The training is aimed at both new and more experienced members, and its goal is to provide a comprehensive education on the basic principles of Rotary, leadership skills and the development of club activities. We asked Juha Artuka, who went through the three-part coaching last year, what the coaching is actually about.

“The training provided me with a comprehensive package of information about Rotary’s operations and strengthened my understanding of how we can have a positive impact on our community. The trainers were very knowledgeable, and the sessions were interactive, which made the learning experience vivid and memorable,” says Juha Artukka, who works as Finlandia Hall Rotary club’s treasurer and currently a member of the district’s education committee.

Advanced Rotary training (Rotary Leadership Institute, RLI) is a compact and versatile training program that deals with the global and local dimensions of Rotary.

“I especially appreciated the opportunity to network with other club members. This not only broadened my view of the wider impact of Rotary, but also inspired me to bring new ideas to my own club activities.”

3-part training

The training consists of three parts, which offer the participants the opportunity to deepen knowledge of Rotary. The coaches are trained to follow the learning principles of the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI).

Part 1: Me as a Rotarian. In this part we focus on leadership in Rotary, the Rotary world, ethics and professional service. In the Rotary Foundation’s section, we learn about engaging members and creating service projects.

Part 2: My Rotary Club. In this part, we will learn about the opportunities offered by Rotary, effective leadership strategies and team building. In addition, we plan ways to acquire new members and the club’s communication. In the foundation section, we get to know the targeted service.

Part 3: My Expanding Rotary World. This section delves into strategic planning, Rotary’s public image and public relations, and how we build a stronger club and change the world. In the foundation section, we get to know the international service.

The training can also be completed in parts, so that if an individual time does not suit yes, it can be fixed in the following years or even in coaching organized by the neighboring district.

“I warmly encourage all Rotarians in our district to participate in the training. There is it’s great to talk with other Rotarians about the pain points of the operation and, on the other hand, inspiring examples. At the same time, you will have developed yourself personally as well professionally as well”, says Juha.

The training itself is free, however, everyone pays for their own lunch and breakfast afternoon coffees.
