An Autumn Greeting to Everyone

The International Polio Day on October 24th was crowned by the End Polio Dinner at Kalastajatorppa. The event was warm and friendly, attended by 28 Rotarians and friends. Merja Roivainen gave us a memorable presentation on Polio. We also held a raffle and raised a total of 963 euros for END POLIO, to be donated to the Rotary Foundation’s PolioPlus fund.

A big thank you to all participants and everyone who took part in various End Polio events organized by the clubs.

Our district’s autumn meeting was held on October 25th at Hotel AX, where we reviewed IPDG Aune Pastin’s year, and members approved the financial statements. Thank you, Aune, for your Magic of Rotary year — it went wonderfully well.

After the autumn meeting, Rotary Foundation Trustee Ann-Britt Åsebol gave a presentation on the Foundation and current topics. It was a very interesting and relevant presentation for our district. Thank you, Ann-Britt.

The district council met in Tallinn on November 4th. After the meeting, we continued updating our district’s strategy with our working group.

The Finland–Estonia working group has met a few times, and their report is nearing completion. The group is still hoping to receive ideas from our members on matters that could enhance cooperation. Ideas and suggestions can be sent directly to Martin Heinrichs at martinjheinrichs@outlook.com.

The district conference and gala dinner will take place on April 18, 2025, so please save the date. The conference, including presentations, will be from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the dinner will be from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at Hotel Kalastajatorppa. The theme of the district conference is Youth and the Future. We hope for a large turnout — all Rotarians and their partners are warmly welcome.

The Governor continues club visits both in Estonia and Finland. These visits have been pleasant, interactive events with lively discussions. I have learned a lot of new things about the activities of different clubs.

It is important that every member of our district is also registered on MyRotary. If you haven’t registered yet, please do so now. It’s worth taking a look — there is a wealth of Rotary knowledge available there, and this excellent platform can help each of us develop and gain more information.

Unite for good

Best regards,
