In the summer of 2024, we will again continue the joint cyanobacteria monitoring project of Finnish rotary districts with our partner Finnish Environmental Center Syke. “Rotarians all over Finland are active partners of Syke, and the contribution of Rotarians in observing the cyanobacteria situation is a valued and welcome addition to Syke’s observation network,” says Hannele Kauranne from the Finlandia Hall Rotary Club.
Rotarians are extensively involved in national blue-green algae monitoring. A total of approx. 180 observation sites have already been established, but there are more than 100 in active use.
The Rotarians making observations were trained for the task again this spring in May with two online training webinars.
The material of the training sessions, i.e. the recording of the webinar and the presentations in PDF format, can be found on the district 1420 “Environment and the Itämeri” page at the address:
If you want to start continuing the observation at a location that was already established, but was paused, please contact us!
