Salsa and tango dances at Leppävirta high school

Leppävirta senior high school dances were held on Friday, February 10, 2023. As the result of thorough training, the “olds” of the high school presented many great and wonderful dance performances to a full hall. Dana Toledo, a Mexican exchange student brought a new and different salsa dance idea this year. Salsa was a great success and it was hoped that it would become a new tradition for Leppävirta high school.

Leppävirta Rotarians in Deekax Rally 

Leppävirta Rotarians participated again this year in the ticket sales of the Puponmäki SM-Rallisprint on the weekend of September 24, 2022. The Deekax rally was the final race of this year’s 2022 SM-Rallisprint. The race is organized by Leppävirta Racing Team. With the organizers’ good instructions and relaxed mood, the day passed smoothly. However, Past President Sari Ihalainen got a rough ride in the VIP zero car. Dana Toledo Barredo, a Mexican exchange student participated as well.

The Rotarians earned 10% of the ticket sales, which goes to charity. The Rotarians participated were Sari Ihalainen, Antti Ihalainen, Erkki Pasanen, Pentti Huopainen and Hannu Raatikainen.

Donation of a painting to Leppäkerttu school 

A small solemn moment was celebrated at Leppäkertu School in September 2020, when it was time to reveal a painting donated by the Leppävirta Rotary Club, painted by artist Jorma Hynninen. At the same time, the Leppävirta Rotary Club donated a large pile of sports equipment.

The plaque found a place worthy of and immediately garnered admiring glances. Jorma Hynninen told about the stages of his work and highlighted a fascinating, mystical fog that moves the imagination. Jorma Hynninen said that interest in painting had already arisen during school times, inspired by the teacher. Even small deeds can make a big difference! Even today, when winding home in the wind and blizzard, one can keep in mind that the greatest is to help the smallest. 

Rotary motorists gathering 

Rotary motorcyclists met first time in 2000. Every year, the event takes place in a different location. The Leppävirta Rotary Club organized its fifteenth meeting in 2015. We enjoyed an excellent program that presented the locality and the surrounding area.

The 2020 meeting in Turku was canceled due to the COVID. Looking forward to the next biker summer.
