Rotary is a service organisation. We act locally and globally according to our motto Service above Self. Our international humanitarian service is carried out and coordinated by our Rotary Foundation and in cooperation with authorized partners.
Already 15th annual Sibelius-opisto music school concert took place again on 31st October 2024.
It was once again fantastic concert from the music school students and we would like to thank the school and its students for their input in making this success story.
All funds from this event have been donated to Polio Plus Fund.
Ajetaan iäkkään iloksi project.
Pandemic years 2020-21 have been very challenging also to our club’s service project “Ajetaan iäkkään iloksi”. However, much to our delight were able to offer one field trip to our dear friends at Ilveskoti during the year 2021. On 9th November we embarked on a field trip by bus due to the large number of participants and we used our District 1390 grant given to our club in order to be able to continue this great social project. Field trip was to the Finnish Hunting Museum in Riihimäki and trip was a huge success.
In spring 2019 our club started a social Project ”Ajetaan iäkkään iloksi” The Rotarians provide transport services to senior citizens to interesting places in Hämeenlinna area. The first session took place in May 2019. About ten residents of rest home Ilveskoti visited Car Museum Vehoniemi apprx. 50 km from Hämeenlinna. The trip was very successful and both the senior citizens and Rotarians enjoyed the day. Ajetaan iäkkään iloksi-Project will continue.
Music concerts at Sibeliusopisto
Our club has yearly arranged a Music concert with music school Sibeliusopisto in Hämeenlinna. The young students of the school get possibility to train and present their skills and Rotarians and their friends get opportunity to listen high-quality music performances. The ticket revenues of the concert will be given to charity purposes and our club gives yearly a grant to Sibeliusopisto. Next concert, 24 Oct 2019 will be World Polio Day event in our club.
We also participate in a shared project with our neighboring clubs.
