November is the month of The Rotary Foundation, founded by Rotary International.

Our District Governor, Mr Jaakko Panula writes in his monthly letter that all the 31 clubs of our Ostrobothnian district have via email received thanks for donations of 1,000 dollars per club to the PolioPlus Fund of The Rotary Foundation. We made the donation together on the World Polio Day, the United Nations Day, 24 October 2018.

The Rotary Foundation coordinates and finances the worldwide service activities by Rotarians. The Foundation’s work is based on voluntary donations and on the revenue of capital which are channelled to education and training projects and humanitarian aid work. The Rotary Foundation is the world’s largest private charity measured in monetary terms, with the best possible rating in terms of transparency and reliability.

Applications for district grants
Clubs can apply for a District Grant for their local projects. There are two application periods for which the deadlines are 15 Nov 2018 and 15 March 2019. The financing decisions concerning the latter will be made at the end of March. Potentially, we have in mind two projects for which we intend to apply for district grants. We’ll continue preparations right after Christmas.
