Our district’s autumn meeting was held in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki on October 25, 2025, starting at 10:00. The venue was Hotel AX. The district’s official meetings – spring and autumn – are our highest decision-making bodies.
Attendees: 22 voting members from Estonia and 27 from Finland.
Past Governor Aune Past gave a review of her term, which was eventful and successful. A fifth question was added alongside Rotary’s four questions: “Is this fun?” Aune emphasized the importance of doing things together and highlighted the close cooperation between Estonia and Finland.
During the term, two new clubs were founded in Estonia (Tallinn Kristiine and Rae Rotary Club, plus the Saaremaa Tallinn Goodwill satellite club). In Finland, the Pasila club was closed. At the start of the current term, there are 67 clubs. Membership decreased by 71 and now stands at 2151 – a solid defense. Financially, the year ended with a surplus of €12,000 thanks to careful budgeting. The district’s income and expenses total around €150,000.
The meeting appointed the selection committee for the 2028–2029 District Governor: members of the district council, AGs Urmas Kahar and Markus Merenmies, and Espoo Rotary Club president Jaakko Hirvola. Chairperson is Irmeli Viherluoto-Lindström. The selection method was discussed; a description is available on our website.
After the meeting, Rotary Foundation trustee Ann-Britt Åsebol gave a presentation covering Rotary and the foundation’s history, youth exchange, polio situation, peace centers, and the idea of giving back to society.
