Christmas came and went. I hope everyone was able to enjoy the joy and message of the season together with family, relatives and friends.

I personally had a moment to breathe and recharge after a hectic autumn.

Before Christmas, many Rotary clubs held festive gatherings and celebrations, and I had the honour of attending several of them.

January is the month of Vocational Service, and the Rotary wheel is turning again. The District Council has met, and interviews for the future governor, DGND, have been conducted. The strategy working group has also convened to update the district’s three year strategy, which will be completed early in the year.

PELS and RLI trainings are underway – I trust everyone remembers the dates in February–March.

On 17 April, the district’s spring meeting will be held, where the incoming governor, DGE Heldur Allese, will present plans for the upcoming Rotary year.
On 18 April, we will have the District Conference and Gala Dinner.

Both events will take place at Hotel Kalastajatorppa, so please mark the dates in your calendar.
The District Conference has already been in planning for over six months, and the programme is nearly complete. We are now finalising high level speakers.

The Palanga Action Summit will be held in Lithuania on 3–6 September, and our district D1420 has committed to ten tickets. As soon as the programme is ready, we will share more information with members.

The governor’s club visits continue, and it is a pleasure to once again travel around the district and meet our Rotarians. All club meetings have been very enjoyable, especially because each club has its own character.

We were delighted to finally receive proper winter weather with snow and frost; it’s wonderful to see children and young people skiing and skating – and above all spending time outdoors. It brings back memories of my own childhood.

Unite for good
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
Winter greetings
