WASH Empowering Girls Service Project in India

Our club has initiated an international service project spanning 10 Rotary districts and 16 clubs. The Global Grant application was submitted in spring 2025, and at the end of June 2025 the project was approved by the Rotary Foundation. Under the theme WASH Empowering Girls, 29 toilet facilities are being constructed at two secondary schools and the girls’ home Home of Hope, and drinking water filtration systems are being provided at these locations.

The project is carried out in collaboration with the Machilipatnam Rotary Club. Ten Rotary districts and 16 clubs have joined the project. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $40,000, which has been fully raised. The project team has included Suvi Lindén, Markku Lehto, Sirkka-Liisa Halme, and Maija Alahuhta.
