\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Ratti, Tommi & Sam (coaches)<\/p><\/div>\n OUR GOALS IN GAMBIA \u2013 safe hobby to children \u2013 supporting local entrepreneur – food\/eggs to the children \u2013 avoiding asylum<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Our aim is to help the children in a football team in Gambia, <\/b>to be able to continue their football hobby by registering the team<\/strong>. Provide nourishment<\/b> for them through our chicken farmer entrepreneur Dawda Manga. He is an ex-soldier and will also educate them to avoid<\/b> the dangerous path of asylum<\/b> seekers via Libya where so many people suffer and even die. We want to spread the message that it is not a great option to come to Europe.<\/b> The project aims also to create business opportunities to local people and more sustainable life in their own homeland!<\/b><\/p>\n Our Gambia story started in 2017 when my wife Heli and I visited this beautiful country and its people for the first time. I had to ”digest” the idea of travelling to Africa few years before we actually got there, travelling to Africa with Crohn\u00b4s disease makes it a bit more complicated. On december 2017 we met local coaches and travel guides Sam and Ratti and they introduced their football team to us, almost 40 children altogether. It clicked right away, we saw the impact of having a hobby and what it means, and felt it in our hearts. We sponsored the team with a real football, one they did not have, and in return we were greeted with genuine smiles and happy faces. Reitti Libyan kautta Eurooppaan sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 hengenvaarallisia elementtej\u00e4 kidnappauksesta, hyv\u00e4ksik\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4, orjuudesta ja kuolemasta. Eurooppaan tulo ei ole hyv\u00e4 ratkaisu. Autetaan Gambialaisia luomaan yhdess\u00e4 parempi elinymp\u00e4rist\u00f6, jotta he voisivat nauttia el\u00e4m\u00e4st\u00e4 omassa maassaan. Meill\u00e4 on eritt\u00e4in asiantunteva ammattilainen luennoimassa lapsille. Dawda Manga, joka on entinen sotilas ja nykyinen kanafarmari-yritt\u00e4j\u00e4.<\/p>\n Yhteinen Gambia tarinamme alkoi vuonna 2017 kun vaimoni Heli Mikkola ja min\u00e4 ensimm\u00e4isen kerran k\u00e4vimme Gambiassa. Minun t\u00e4ytyy tunnustaa, ett\u00e4 en alkuun ollut ollenkaan innostunut n\u00e4in eksoottiseen maahan matkustamisesta, Crohnin taudin kanssa matkustaessa on riskins\u00e4 eksoottisissa maissa. Joulukuussa 2017 kuitenkin matkasimme sinne, ja tapasimme pian paikalliset valmentajat Samin ja Rattin, ja he esitteliv\u00e4t meille ylpe\u00e4n\u00e4 paikallisen jalkapallojoukkueen. Lapset pelasivat ep\u00e4tasaisella niityll\u00e4, muovipallolla, suuri osa ilman kenki\u00e4 ja sukkia. Ostimme heille oikean jalkapallon, mihin heill\u00e4 ei ollut varaa. Jokin todella liikahti sis\u00e4ll\u00e4mme, kun n\u00e4in antamamme jalkapallon tuoman ilon lasten kasvoilla, joten siit\u00e4 auttaminen sai alkunsa! SAMIN HAAVE<\/b> Samin, joukkueen p\u00e4\u00e4valmentajan suuri haave on pit\u00e4\u00e4 lapset poissa kadulta ja tarjota heille hyv\u00e4 ja turvallinen harrastus.<\/p>\n PROJEKTIN TAVOITTEET \/ EDISTYMINEN<\/b><\/p>\n Yhteisty\u00f6kumppanit ja toteuttajat:<\/p>\n Samppalinnan Rotary klubi auttaa meit\u00e4 projektin l\u00e4piviemisess\u00e4 ja rahoituksessa. \nWhile we were in Gambia 2018, we went to local Rotary meeting which is a great way to connect by the way! There we met Ian Dow and Nona Lamb from Rotary Club Aberdeen St Nicholas, Scotland. As pictures tell you below, we did some charity together, I was amazed how we worked together and achieved great goals. That gave me confident that this can be a real Rotary campaign which is now happening!
